The school day Break times and lunch times

The school gates open at 8.45am and children are supervised in classrooms until 9.00am when registration takes place.

Please ensure that your child is at school for the beginning of each session. Children need to be in their classrooms ready to start work at 9.00am. They can be distressed as a result of a late or hurried start.

After the 9.00am bell, the only access into school is through the main entrance.

The school day ends at 3:15pm when parents are invited to wait on the playground to collect their children from the class teachers.

All children in years 1 and 2 have an outdoor break between 10.30am and 10.45am and 2.15pm and 2.30pm. Children in the Reception classes will have a snack time in their year group part way through their morning.

Lunchtime takes place between 12 noon and 1.15pm where all year groups have 1 hour each, with a slightly staggered lunch across the year groups. Each class has a lunchtime supervisor assigned to them.

All children are asked to bring a water bottle into school. These are stored so children can access them at any time and are taken home to be cleaned and refilled each night.

School meals

From September 2014, all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 have been eligible for a free school meal.  These meals are served on a cafeteria basis and even the youngest children manage reasonably independently.  Schools are legally required to provide meals that comply with the School Food Standards. These standards are intended to ensure that children get the nutrition they need across the whole school day. They govern all food and drink on offer within the school and apply across the school day. Alternatively children may bring a packed lunch from home. As a healthy school we do ask that packed lunches are balanced nutritionally and do not include sweets and/or fizzy drinks.

If you would like more information about the school dinners that are provided please ask at the office.
